Can you believe Christmas is in 2 weeks?! Like where the hell did 2018 go?! If you work from home or even a job that you go in a couple days a week and then work from home the rest, then I feel you!! Don’t get me wrong, I totally love the fact that I get a chance to work from home 2-3 days a week, but I’m the type to get distracted super easily, so I decided share some of my tips for working at home and actually being productive. lmao
Make a daily to do list. This goes for anyone, even if you work in an office, but especially if you work from home. Each night, make a to do list of what you want / need to accomplish for the next day. I usually divide my to do list into 2. One for the morning and one for the night. I also make sure to schedule to the harder / more annoying tasks in the morning, just so I can get it over with. I learned this trick from Brighton Keller from Brighton the Day!
Get ready each morning. Okay so you don’t have to do this every morning or even as soon as you wake up, but I find that when I get myself together and get real clothes on (instead of pajamas), I’m 10x more productive and excited to work.
Go to a coffee shop. If you get distracted easily like I do, then heading out somewhere other than your house to work is most ideal. I know there are tons of people sometimes at coffee shops or libraries, but it just helps me get out of the bed or off couch and get productive. I usually take my headphones and listen to a podcast or music.
Set work hours for yourself. So just how you would have work hours if you worked in an office, do the same for when you work from home, even though working from home holds a little more flexibility. My most productive times are early in the morning and late at night. So I may work from 8-11AM in the morning and then take a break and work some more later that night from like 8-11PM.
Put your phone across the room or in your purse. I can’t express this enough. I mean even if you’re working in an office, you can still get distracted by your phone. Putting it away can help curb the temptation to check Insta Stories every 2.5 seconds.
Take hourly breaks. This helps to refresh your mind so you don’t get burnt out from working.
