How I Cleared Up My Hormonal Acne

Getting SUPER personal on the blog today. Christmas 2017, my skin went CRAZY. I had a terrible hormonal acne breakout. It lasted 6 months and I felt SO SO SO terrible during that time. I was still in college and I remember skipping classes and social plans because I was too embarrassed to let anyone see me like that. It hurt so bad, itched, and killed all of self confidence. I had to go to the doctor and get on a special birth control. I think that helped a ton, plus the fact that I tried not to wear makeup all summer long. Since then, I vowed that I would find a skincare routine that worked for my skin and stick to it 110%.

Here’s a photo of my skin when it was at its worse. I’m so thankful it looks NOTHING like that now.

The photo on the right is my skin now. My confidence has gone up so much since this terrible hormonal breakout.

My skin type: normal / dry skin. Before I moved to Vegas, I had super oily skin. Since moving to Vegas, my skin is no longer oily. In fact, my skin got really dry when I first moved out here. I didn’t have a good moisturizer, but for the past 2-3 months, I’ve been using a new one and it’s been a total game changer.

Finding a skincare routine that fits YOUR skin is number one when choosing skincare products. You wouldn’t want to use a product made for oily skin, if you have dry skin, right?

If you’re not sure what products would work best, grab some sample size bottles from Ulta. I tried Dermalogica back in August, but it didn’t work well with me skin at all. A good skincare routine can get a little expensive, but it’s a investment I would recommend anyone make if you can afford it.

My Morning Skin Care Routine:

  1. Wash Face with Pixi Cleanser

  2. I switch out using the Pixi Serum and Murad Serum

  3. Murad Night Cream - I use this morning and night because it helps my face stay moisturized and helps my makeup not settle in my smile lines - I’ve seen a major difference in those since using - like literally not even there anymore.

My Morning Skin Care Routine:

  1. Remove makeup with Glycolic Pads by Nip+Fab

  2. Murad Cleanser - seriously SO GOOD, get’s the rest of my makeup / dirt off

  3. Pixi Toner

  4. Murad Serum

  5. Murad Night Cream

*I use the Tula Exfoliating mask 3-4 days a week in the shower!

*I use the Glow Stick for travel & during the day if my skin is feeling dry and needs a pick me up.

*Murad Facial Spray and Evian Facial Spray also helps during the day too!
