The Perfect Substitute for Primer
So over the past couple months, I’ve really been working on my skincare routine. At the beginning of the year, my skin got SUPER oily and I broke out all over my jaw, cheek, and chin. I’ve always had oily skin, but something just changed all of a sudden. It lasted for about 3 months and then BOOM, my skin got soooo dry. I would totally rather it be dry than oily any day though.
With that being said, I’ve realized that being 23, now is the time to get into a skincare routine that works for me and actually fights aging. That makes me totally cringe even saying that. haha During high school and college, I had a terrible habit of getting in the tanning bed basically every day. I know, I know…totally bad for your skin, but I mean who likes being pale?! Now I’ve found some self tanners that look natural, so I don’t do the whole tanning bed thing anymore. Every once in a while I’ll go get a spray tan, but those can get expensive, so I make sure to limit it.
My skincare routine before I put on makeup in the mornings has also changed. I know a ton of people love using primer before they put on makeup, but I just don’t really like how it feels on my skin. I think it’s just too heavy for my sensitive skin. However, I do like how primer blurs out scars and other imperfections, so for the past 2 months, I’ve been using Neutrogena’s Hydro Boost Water Gel Lotion Sunscreen as a primer. I’ve never really worn a sunscreen daily until recently and I literally love this one!
Just like primer, the Neutrogena Hydro Boost Sunscreen blurs out my imperfections before I put on my makeup. Along with protecting my skin from the sun and adding that extra boost of moisture for my extra dry skin. It def doesn’t make my makeup look cakey or make me breakout, which I totally love! It’s also a win-win that it’s super affordable and you can get it at Wal-Mart, Target, or any drug store.
